Be aware that boats will be rafted according to size at “Dockmasters” discretion.  Participants will be assigned a location once they register.  Dockmasters will be on hand to direct boats as they come in to dock.  Only participants will be permitted to dock and only in our designated areas (in front of PNC Park on the North Shore, and along Point State Park on the city side).

2. EVENT OVERVIEW

Come join in a historic boat parade celebrating Pittsburgh's 250th Birthday on the morning of Saturday, October 4th. This grand river spectacle starts at 9:30am and runs until 11am and will include a full closure of the Three Rivers. The closure starts at 8am and runs until 12pm and includes the Ohio River to the McKees Rocks Bridge, to the Smithfield Street Bridge on the Monongahela River and to the Ft. Wayne Bridge on the Allegheny River – the railroad bridge just upstream of the Convention Center.

Three Rivers 250th Flotilla Cruise will feature over 100 boats of all kinds that will lead us in remembering and celebrating the very reason why Pittsburgh exists – OUR RIVERS!! According to the Heinz History Center, over 300,000 Pittsburghers came out for a similar event celebrating the City’s 150th birthday in 1908. Pittsburgh is the city it is because of our rivers and the strategic value they have provided to our region’s ancestors and continue to provide to us today. Join us in the party!

The vessels in the Three Rivers 250th Flotilla will include canoes and kayaks as used by Native Americans for millennia, ancient Chinese dragon boats, historic local stern wheelers, private recreational boats of all shapes and sizes, the Gateway Clipper Fleet, an Ingram Barge Company vessel, RiverQuest’s world-first hybrid educational flagship Explorer, the US Army Corps of Engineers tow boat the M/V EVANICK and many other private, commercial and government vessels. The Delta Queen, an incredible national historic vessel, will also be docked along the North Shore for its last trip to Pittsburgh before it is decommissioned. We need you in your boat. Come out and join us.
